METM15 – Variety the spice of a good conference

Last weekend we had the Mediterranean Editors and Translators annual conference (METM15), this time in Coimbra, Portugal. Yet again, it was an action-packed and interesting event in a great setting. So thank you very much to the organisers for all their hard work.

I’d also like to thank them for letting me do a talk (on translating contracts). It was great to be able to share some ideas in person and hear what others thought. I also loved being part of such a diverse event. Because for me that is one of the big strengths of METM conferences: variety.

You meet people from all walks of the translator-and-editor spectrum (and quite a few off that even!) and see presentations on a wide range of topics (as you can see in this year’s programme).

I always pick up some idea, tip or perspective from the talks, and it’s inspiring just hearing what others are doing.

See you all again next year in Tarragona!
